Today is my husbands birthday, so Happy Birthday ! It is the first time we have spent his birthday apart since we got together 24 years ago.
I was awakened this morning at 5 am by the phone ringing letting me know he had arrived safely in Kuwait. I was conscious enough to tell him that Ellis, one of our sons, was still stuck in there waiting for his ride home for leave. Told him I loved him and hung up, being able to go back to sleep peacefully, knowing he was safe.
At 9 am I got a call from Licia, Ellis' wife, saying they had accidentally run into each other.
He called back later, at a more reasonable hour, 10 am. I wished him Happy Birthday because frankly I was too asleep at 5 am to remember what day it was.
I asked him if they had really just ran into each other or if he had tried to find him. He said he had learned enough about how things worked and that once he knew he was there, he went to ask where to find him, found out where he was, had to get a visitors pass for the area he was in, then looked through a couple of buildings and still hadn't found him. As he was leaving the last building he saw him walking towards him with a "what in the heck are you doing here?" look on his face. I guess his wife forgot to tell him Dad was coming over. It was good for both of them, to talk, hug (it's always nice to get a hug on your birthday) and break bread together.
What a blessing!
Isn't this so like life? We, as children, think things just happen. Not realizing all the time that behind the scenes someone who cares for us is working to help us find Him!
So cool. Glad to know he made it safely to Kuwait and the he was able to connect. Hope you're having a wonderful restful day. hugs from CA
