Lunch with a friend-

On Sunday, my friend Natalie invited me to lunch at her house.  We have done this a couple of times in the last few years.  She's fun.  She is what you would call athletic, which is only overshadowed by her artistic side. Her quilts are works of art, but then so are her actual works of art(paintings). That night around 9:30pm I started to panic because I have recently been diagnosed with freaking allergies.  Wheat, Spelt, Rye, Barley, Gluten, Cranberry, Sesame, Chicken Eggs, Duck Eggs, and coffee(not an issue for me cause I always thought it smelled bad).  So I was so worried that she would make something that I couldn't eat and then she would feel bad and I would feel bad but it was to late to call.  I forced myself not to worry about it and just went the next day to lunch thinking I would just eat whatever I could, and Natalie would understand because she was my friend, and stuff like that isn't an issue with her.
She looked at me and said "We're having left overs, hope you don't mind".  I of course said that was great, cause truth be told I would rather have dinner leftovers for lunch than a sandwich or salad any day.  But it was roast, potatoes and carrots with OJ ( my favorite juice). Home canned pears and peaches, yum yum.  Not one allergen for me at all, it was a miracle.  I explained my previous worry over the allergy issue and I love the fact that she simply explained that she had remembered from a conversation we had at an earlier time that I had mentioned that I had an issue with wheat.
It's nice when your friends that you think don't know you very well, really have been paying attention all along and surprise you with how well they do know you.  She even KNEW I wouldn't mind leftovers.  That it would be okay with me that she didn't do anything "special". It was special enough that we just shared a meal with good conversation and had some laughs.
Whether we eat at a restaurant or share leftovers is not what's important. It's the moments we live that are the real good stuff in life!
